I am a professional opera singer living in Cleobury Mortimer, South Shropshire.
Like most singers, my love for music and song developed while I was at school. I started singing in the performing arts department at Lacon Childe School, Cleobury Mortimer and continued through my time at the Oldbury Wells School Sixth Form College in Bridgnorth. I read music at Cardiff University School of Music gaining a BMus Hons.
After graduation I moved to London and continued my studies, completing two foundation courses at Birkbeck University (in song and opera) before joining Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, one of the leading London conservatories, for a post-graduate course on singing. I graduated in 2014.
My first operatic experience was singing Edith, in the Gilbert and Sullivan classic Pirates of Penzance with the Tenbury Amateur Operatic Society when I was 16. This opportunity inspired me to take singing further. 15 years later, I have now performed as a member of the chorus in some of the most prestigious venues in the country, such as Glyndebourne, the Royal Albert Hall, the Barbican Centre. As a soloist I sang my debut of Elisabeth in Wagner’s Tannhäuser at Longborough Festival Opera in 2016 and Ellen Orford in Benjamin Britten’s opera Peter Grimes at Dartington International Music festival in 2017.
I passionately believe that singing is about communication, sharing the emotions and drama of songs with an audience. I am dedicated to sharing this passion with my students, helping them to not only become better singers but also to help understand the majesty and magnificence of the music they are singing and how to bring that to life in performance.
My classical training along with my experience in performance gives me the expertise and knowledge to help you improve as a singer, whether as a hobby or as a professional.
I am a member of the Incorporated Society of Musicians and am fully CRB checked.
I teach from my home in Cleobury Mortimer and also from the Elgar School of Music in Worcester.
